I have an opinion/observation on the SI rankings and would like everyones view.

Is it a ranking as it states on page 79? Or is it how they view the NCAA tournament will turn out as stated on the same page (Purdue the top losing elite 8 team)?

I am excited for the season, but do not give much creedence to early season rankings. I feel that it can be only accurately done around the halfway point of the season (mid-January). But, if they did that there would be less interest in the early season and who would give two-craps about Seth Davis and his smug look?

biker- let me get this straight- you think losing seats is a good thing because it will look full? I disagree completely. This arena used to sell out most of the season and the alum base has grown. I think shrinking the arena is a bit short-sighted. Granted, they'll make more money/seat, but, less student seats will be available as a result of the renovations and I never think that's a good thing.

per last week in GBI print (w/numbers said to be from late last month):
13,499 season tickets sold,
6 games sold out - duke, wisc., mich.st., mich., ind., iowa.

pretty good imo. i think all conf. weekend games will sellout easily, and weekday conf. games will also but maybe not until that particular week.
seems like the alums & students are definitely back, but maybe not all the lafayette locals, at least vs. the past (whether thats interest, economy, ?).

keeping in mind... after renovations (and hopefully sustained success) sellouts should be that much easier with capacity dropping to about 13,300.
*wasn't a fan of that idea at first, but i think its better for the program to have a consistently packed mackey (just imo, sorta like duke) vs. seeing any empty seats.

We were all in school at the same time and you got your tickets as soon as they were available, or there would be no tickets to be had.
