Well, if you’re not Morgan Burke, you probably do like lights. And if you like lights, then you probably like the ones installed at Ross-Ade Stadium. And if you like those, I have some good news. The game times for Purdue’s first six games have been released and isn’t it interesting how while Purdue was dreadful we often waited until mere days/hours before the games to learn of time and channel? Chalk one more win up for Jeff Brohm and Mike Bobinski for getting this stuff mapped out 3+ months ahead of time.

Purdue opens on Thursday night, 8/30 vs Northwestern at 8 PM on ESPN. That first Thursday night of football before the first weekend – which usually is an August Thursday – always feels like found money to me. I remember working late one night years ago when this began to become a thing (a bunch of games leading into that glorious first weekend) and Boilerdowd called me and said “GET TO A TELEVISION.”

The following week, they get their Hazell-esque noon start vs EMU. Let’s hope Purdue puts that one to bed nice and early and then you’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy yourself.

Then on 9/15, Purdue hosts Mizzou in a 730 PM BTN game that could be a hella fun shootout. In fact, if it’s anything but that, I’ll be shocked. Both teams have accomplished QBs and creative offenses, Purdue’s defense is young, and I don’t think Missouri has any defensive players on their roster (I’ll have to check). Also, rumors abound about a BS Summit at this game.

Another nooner follows against BC on 9/22, so don’t worry, old people and friends of Morgan – there’s still some examples of your old fave.

Then Purdue hits the road for two games in the 3:30 slot – at Nebraska on 9/29 (last shot at a “down” Nebraska before Frost has them all the way back?) and at Illinois on 10/13.

I imagine the time for the seventh game – vs OSU – may be dependent upon how Purdue plays at the start of the season. As we’ve alluded to, if Purdue were to start strong against this schedule, it almost feels like GameDay (or BTN’s GameDay knock-off) could come calling.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. (Aw, hell, who are we kidding? We love getting ahead of ourselves.)

The season starts three months from yesterday. Enjoy your summers, kids.
