Purdue's Moon Helmet Is Here And It's Cool

For this weekend’s Homecoming game, Purdue will wear a helmet honoring the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. It features a white helmet, mirror gold mask, footprints on the helmet stripe and “One Giant Leap” on the back where other programs might have a catchy slogan or, you know, an oar or something.

Within the silver “P” is a rendering of the moon’s surface, replete with craters. (Commercial idea: members of the Purdue cradle of QBs firing footballs off the moon to make those craters. You’re welcome, Madison Avenue.)

Purdue is also leveraging the “cradle” moniker to go with the “Cradle of Astronauts,” which Purdue really is.
