They grow up so fast.

AJ Hammons is the newest addition to noted IU alum Mark Cuban's beloved Dallas Mavericks, drafted with the 46th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

As for the his with the Mavs, here's what I wrote earlier this week:

Assuming Dallas resigns franchise icon Dirk Nowitzki, the schematic fit for Hammons is absolutely perfect. My only worry before the draft was Carlisle's willingness to give big roles to incoming rookies (and, more importantly, the opportunity to play through mistakes), but reading a few of Coach Carlisle's quotes from last night makes me feel a little better. Here are some highlights:

It sounds like the Mavs front office are committed to Hammons (at least, right now they are), so learning from one of the best coaching staffs in the league and (hopefully) alongside one of the NBA's greatest big men in Nowitzki is a pretty great way for Hammons to start his professional career.

Time to go buy a whole mess o' Mavs stuff.
