#21 Minnesota came into a snowy West Lafayette with not a road win to their name…and I thought, honestly, without Sash, it would be a relatively easy win for Goldy. Brandon Newman had other ideas.

29 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals is a great stat line for a grizzled veteran…and it’s a thing of beauty for a redshirt Freshman. Jaden Ivey’s energy threw gas on the man ablaze that was Brandon Newman…as Purdue brought balance to the world with the middle ten minutes of the second half, put them up by 14 points, which was incredible. The middle ten minutes of the first half, conversely, had them down by 14 points (24-10).

But it wasn’t over.

Purdue allowed the lead to shrink down to just seven points, before Eric Hunter Jr calmly hit a big bucket, then Purdue made a stop, and Tre hit another, with an and one, and even hit the free throw. After that, Purdue didn’t look back and won, 81-62.

Tre had a double-double just a minute into the second half…finished with 17pts, 14rebs, 3ast…and one was as pretty as J Money in the morning sunshine. His classmate, Eric, had only four points…but his steady hand on the controls and six assists in the second half (seven total) made the thing go. Gillis finished with 11points and burly 9boards as well.

Purdue improves to 12-6 (7-4 in the B1G)…and takes another big step toward the dance in Indiana with this quad two win (5-0 in such contests).

I attempted another live feed postgame…here’s how that went:
